All of the MRR homesites sold out years ago. Subsequently, homes have been built on the majority of lots, with a mix of primary and second home residents. Some of our owners have chosen to retain multiple lots for enhanced privacy. Occasionally, some of our lots or homes are available on a resale basis. Of note, the platted limits of disturbance for homes within the community ensure that 89 percent of the total acreage remains undisturbed and natural. Perimeter fencing is not permitted on individual homesites to promote the free movement of wildlife. MRR features two private open space areas, with several ponds and seasonal streams, comprising 152 acres. There is also a private trail system for our residents, suitable for hiking and equestrian activities. Horses are permitted within MRR, subject to specific guidelines and restrictions.

Architecture

One of the first things that strike and welcome a new visitor to Maple Ridge Ranches (MRR) is the fitting barn style of architecture that blends into the rolling landscape. Barns are one of the oldest and most traditional American structures. They evoke a sense of security and closeness to the land and the communities that built them.

The original developers of MRR had several important considerations in creating a living environment compatible with barn style architecture.

First, the use of indigenous materials was essential, so they used timbers hewn in a historic saw mill in Oakley Utah and stone from a local quarry. Second, the spatial quality of barns was unlike that of most houses due to their openness. By integrating the barn shape, the homes naturally were created with large open areas that encompass the living room, dining room, and kitchen with a prominant stone fireplace providing warmth. Barn style homes capture a relaxed, unpretentious, and spacious living environment ideally suited to a Western lifestyle. By capturing a historic country feeling, barn homes are designed to age gracefully in MRR's mountainside pastures.

The barn designs used here have been inspired by local hay barns and crucifix style barns, as well as from barns in Napa Valley, California and a famous barn in Jackson Hole, Wyoming with a Grand Teton backdrop. The special character of these barns is exemplified in the system of beams, braces, posts and rafters of the framework that create a sense of grand country style the moment you walk in.

Other unique and inspirational homes and ranch estates have been built in MRR as well. They all share the ability to blend into the landscape and take full advantage of the spectacular views that are offered here on the very edge of the Wasatch National Park.
